Democratic Socialists of Your Party stand with the people of Iran against the war being waged against them by the United States and Israel.
The unprovoked and criminal war threatens to sow decades of chaos and violence. We know from the wars on Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya that the US only offers death and destruction and uses the legitimate aspirations of the oppressed as political cover for their own interests. This war will undercut and undermine the mass movement that has flooded the streets of Iran since December, seeking an end to theocratic rule where tens of thousands have been murdered. Our solidarity with the people of Iran is unshakeable, we stand with them against the imperialist onslaught and in their own struggle for freedom.
As an organised tendency within Your Party in Britain we recognise that our tasks are clear. The British state and its military apparatus must play no part in the war, American forces must be expelled with no British bases allowed to offer support or shelter. Every blow Iranian forces inflict on the United States and Israel’s militaries should be recognised as legitimate and necessary to beat back the imperialist onslaught.
We call on all our organisers and the wider membership of Your Party to make every effort to join and strengthen the anti-war actions now taking place. Further, as internationalists we are clear, we stand with the Iranian people as they confront the twin terror and bloodlust of the imperialists and the theocratic state.
