A Full Summary From Democratic Socialists Organisers on the Ground<\/h2>

Earlier today, we reported that we had submitted a point of order to the Standing Orders Committee (SOC). We received no formal reply \u2014 but our organisers inside the hall have now provided a detailed account of what unfolded.<\/p>

Protest Quickly Shut Down<\/h2>

Around 20 delegates initially gathered at the side of the hall preparing to protest the handling of motions. As the group grew to around 30\u201340 people, stewards intervened, ordering delegates to either sit down or leave. This pushed the group to disperse, leaving around 15 still visible.<\/p>

Comrades have also reported that security guards used abusive language toward delegates attempting to organise. When the session ended, activists moved toward the front to raise concerns, but security blocked access to the stage and the group was forced to back off.<\/p>

Only One \u201cSafe\u201d Motion Allowed Through<\/h2>

Officials permitted discussion of just one uncontroversial motion \u2014 the proposal banning bribes and second jobs. The chair struggled even to find speakers against it.<\/p>

Instead of then moving onto the next member-submitted motion, officials suddenly announced they had \u201cspare time\u201d and switched to discussing the shortlist of party names. This was extremely unpopular in the hall.<\/p>

It\u2019s worth noting: the submitter of the bribes motion had already asked supporters to unendorse it<\/em> so that more substantial motions could be prioritised. That message circulated through activist WhatsApp chats before conference, but evidently did not reach the officials running the agenda.<\/p>

Livestream Cut After Floor Protests<\/h2>

When delegates protested the agenda change and demanded proper debate on member-submitted motions, the livestream was abruptly cut. Officials then ended the day\u2019s proceedings entirely.<\/p>
